In a picture or portrait, there's always an emotion. Happiness, sorrow, excitement, or even vengeance. Everything is expressed through the setting or how did we manipulated and enhance the photo. Although I'm just an amateur photographer, mainly a hobbyist, I still consider the setting, the ambiance of the environment, and the overall mood surrounding the place. For instance, a black and white or monochrome photograph, would be capturing the attention of the viewer as a dull and sensitive portrait. Picturing people with emotions would be harder than picturing still life because you have to be accurate in knowing the emotions of the captured photo. Always remember that the type and style of the light and exposure of the photo would affect the expressions found inthe photo, it may alter the real emotion of a photo.
Here are some of example of my expressive photos which usual persons perceive by just looking at them:
Here are some of example of my expressive photos which usual persons perceive by just looking at them:
DOWN BY THE LAKE: a black and white photo, and added some sepia tones to create a more vintage shot. There are so many emotions hovering above this photo, for example, this shot may be perceived as a loss of a former lover, or a life struggling. The photo is in "grief". BOTTLE IN THE SAND: what idea would come into your mind if you see this photo. Different perceptions are created, just like, a long loss bottle found along the shore to remininsce the past, etc.
