Since my summer is full of homework, and stuffs from school, my brain is all dried up. A feeling of being played with the south and west wind.

School days are too far gone in this summer season. Now I got a literally dry summer. Except from the fact that I get to see my damn cracking friends everyday, but i'm almost snapped out. I know, it's a usual thing for a student, and I must enjoy it.

So, does it mean that summer is my greatest frequency of moodswings? Aside from the weather, some people which I can't seem to reach out is one reason why I got on-board with the mood to capture out anything based from my instincts and current emotion. A photo of three dried leaves along the road left lying by the rustling wind.

This photo got so many emotions, that's why I decided to mark the word, Season, because season is just like the feelings of a person. Not all the time we are happy, not all the time we are in vain. Nevertheless, let us all remember that life is too short, so let's celebrate every moment of it, even though it's a sad moment or at the peek of your happiness. Cheers to life!

So far, summer is all dried up. How's yours? Was that too EMO?! LOL

It's been a while since I posted photos related to my hobby photography. Since I only got a Canon EOS 750QD circa 90s, and a cheap digicam, I've been limited into short range shooting, and pale color output, I basically use Adobe Photoshop, just to acquire my desired image contrast.

One thing I usually do is to adjust the curves and levels of the photo to pop the image out, or the other way round, rendering with the help of my Photoshop Filters.

Topaz' PS Filter is a great way to set the contrast in your photos with a popping effect.
The package offers great photo effect template and manual sliders for the colors and contrast. It's good to experiment with its interface, that's why I found myself manipulating and processing photos again after a long hiatus.

Although I need to acquire some more skills about shooting and processing, I know, i'm in the process of learning, and hopefully learn some additional basic skills.

This one was shot from Tropicana Beach Resort, somewhere here in Gensan. To add more dramatic effect, I turned it into black and white, and set the contrast high enough to distingush the two shades with the use of curves. To tweak more of it, I pop the image using Topaz.

This is the road to Panabo, Davao del Norte. Since the original output of this one is pale, and the sky was so clear, where you can barely see clouds on it, I decided to turn it into a black and white photo, and added a crisp on the photo using the same filter.

(My little brother who seemed tired but still managed to smile in front of the camera.)

Maligayang LP, at Manigong bagong taon.

Davao City's coffe hang-out, Chicco de Caffe establish a contest regarding their logo to be used. In line with this, Angel from Monster Express, asked me if I would like to join in the said competition. Obviously, i'm up to things related to graphics and logo making, so I decided to take part on it. I'm not making my official entry instead I affiliated my entry with the entry of Angel, in short, the logo I made would be under her name, knowing that she is a student of Davao, and its almost impossible for me to go to Davao just to witnessed the event. So I decided to affiliate with her.

Kristan Franco Photography

Moving on, the final output of the logo I made above. Well, I can't think of a better idea, instead I decided to go with the flow, whatever I can think of, knowing that Chicco de Caffe is an Italian coffee shop, so what I did was to do the basic colors of Italy's flag, as stated in the mechanics. Then, off to the 3-hour creation in the Photoshop.

The 3-hour logo making made my ideas go dry. I can't think of a better idea except the fact that I want the logo to be more on a retro approach. Basically, involving the fonts, Jane Austen, and MotterFemD, while doing my rounds with the paths , marquee tool, and gradient mappings. What I did first was to apply the color scheme involving the colors of the Italian flag. In line with the retro approach of my logo, I decided to make a tampered sticker effect, to emphasize the words inside, while balancing it with the colors outside, which serves as the secondary background to balance the view of the viewers while noticing the centered logo. So, I guess its not too bad, making me satisfied for this day, thanks to pen tool, paths, marquee, and gradient effects.

Well, whatever happens, Goodluck to us! Oh, and don't forget visiting Angel's blog.

Dear Santa,

I've been dying to see your real face. Obviously, its 24th of December and I haven't received any gift from you yet. You even left my dashboard messy and didn't leave a real Christmas present. If you're reading this right now, I really hate you, I won't give you some of mom's freshly baked macaroons. I know you're restless but what about making my day happy?

You know what? Time is running out. Hours from now and you'll be busy dropping by on houses, but you're forgetting to drop a single present here. Damn! If you think I'll be off wandering and making my way to my dreamland, no way, I'll be waiting for a drop from you. I'm also planning on how to get over there. North Pole must be way freezing now, your sexy elves must be kicking ass right now. Who knows? You yourself know.

Well, if you can't accept my request, will you just make these Chicken instantly covered with breadcrumbs. I'm dying to do this one recently, but since I don't know how to accomplish this, you can help me. If you also got time, could you fetch my laundry in the laundry shop nearby? I'm sure you'll agree. Lastly, can you provide me another desktop, so that I can easily do works?

Come on, i'm sure you still got some of your tricks there. I know you can grant the wishes of a frustrated student. I know you will. Anyway, same as you, i'll be taking a break, and hope that this Christmas eve will be another interesting and great event to experience. Goodluck to your gift-dropping tonight Santa! Just be sure to greet all the fellas you see tonight!

Truly Yours,
A Frustrated IT Student

P.S.
i also bothered to make a cartoon above, so please notice me!

Monochrome Logo

The kid was tightly wrap in his blue jacket, while making up with the hand of his father, and his mother on his left. Clicking noise of coins dropped by the kids trying to win the small stufftoy. Popcorn vendors trying to penetrate the huge number of crowd flowing from different sides. Coming in and coming out while the dim lights making up the rides which caught the interest of the kid. It is just one of the hundred scenarios I could spot in the city's plaza, which I managed to visit once in a while, at least.

The huge crowd was in a rush, but I noticed the kid along with his mother and father, was still there, staring at the spinning ferris wheel, neverending. The kid was longing for a ride, but still his parents can't give anything. Chances are fading for the little fella, but i'm pretty sure he'll be enjoying the night together with his mom and dad.

The lights were already turned on in the nearby stage, but still I can't make up the faces of the people strolling around the dusty walkway. All I know is, i'm finally back again strolling around the place I used to hang when I was still reclaiming my innocence.

The kid was finally over with the neverending spin of the Ferris Wheel. Saw him smiling with excitement, while trying a quality time with his mother and father. It's just another simple thing given away to put smiles and happiness into one's self. Seeing the real meaning of Christmas is to see how happy the family is.

For a writer, another poem to write. For a painter, another canvass to make. For a blogger another post to create, but for a kid, and his family, another Real Christmas to experience.

Then i'd be very thankful for that, I can do the laundry, blogging, and plurking at the same time, and even form a band with myselves! no way? This thing must be crazy, i'm many, and I am everywhere. That's insane.

Photoshop is one way of doing clones, just in the photo, not in the real life. I guess you'll be damned if that happens. All you need is a dose of imagination and a bunch of ideas sprouting from your mind. Just leave it to the camera, do the multi-shooting, and a handful of photos with different pose, then Photoshop will do the rest.

I was stunned the first time I saw and learned this kind of manipulation, but later on realized, that it was just a matter of creativity and self-exploration, and that's the way how to crumble the cookie.

So, are you ready for giving yourself a full blast with these types of manipulation, wherein you can be from those worries from the real world.

Oh no, i'm taking insanely, that's it for now!

Saturday Afternoon- I sat down on the couch with an on-going sleepyhead, one of my friends messaged me to watched a cheerdance competition. It's a sleepy afternoon, so I decided to drop with them. Everytime I hang-out with them we're always get into trouble, and tell ourselves, "We suck, but it was fun". Yeah, it was fun, hanging out with my group, APOCALYPSE.

Ever wonder why Apocalypse? I really don't know. All I know is that i'm proud to say that I had made a great contribution to make the group succeed in the past 3 years. It's been a while since me and my friends get to know each other back in the second year of our high school days.

It started out as a joke in 3rd year high school, while renaming my friendster name in "Apocalypse" and encourage my close friends, Riza and Honey to also change their name. At least it made us happy, aside from the fact that we were recognized by friendster people, with wondering with thoughts of, "Why Apocalypse? Andami nyo ah?".

We're 15, or 16, or 17, I don't know, and you know what's good about the group? Different perceptions of life, and different showcase of talents. We have a visual artist, a fashionista, kikays, photographer, adobe nerds, or even duel master. We have the same world everytime we get together.

Nothing much happened during the last 24 hours living as a frustrated IT student, except the fact that I had just recieved my free domain from Batang Yagit, and the frustrating pop dance we had in PE. It was just a normal day, with normal boring subjects. Before I forgot, I got the chance to post a personal one, and it was already a month when I had my last personal post, or corect me if i'm wrong.

Getting back on my experience in the last 24 hours, I was still unfamiliar of how my domain works, but I am still thankful for the 1 year free and quick domain I got with the help of Godaddy.com. I decided to name my new domain , but same blog as A Southern Shutter, and don't worry, Monkey Monitor is still the same with the new one, and it will be back after a year, if wouldn't renew my domain, I guess.

Fortunately, the week ended with many vacant and free time. This week is just as splendid as it gets when there are holidays, every student would dream of it. Another intersting part of this post I guess, is my new photo manipulation, another art and crap. I got some time to finish these 2 self-portrait, and fortunately, these ended just fine.

See? I can do the Twilight pose too. You know? Edward Cullen. Please don't react badly.

Maybe I can do some stunts here, I guess. My brain was stuck for about 90 nanoseconds, maybe that's the reason why I decided to pose for the camera, which is very weird, and unusual.

Sorry guys, I'm not really in myself today, I'm already at the hyper status, so just cope up with me. Bring it on!

P.S. thanks to the Mr. Bean shirt, it was very comfortable wearing you.

Plurk has consumed much of my time responding and posting your daily activities. It's addicting. I really don't know what's the essence of updating your plurk every hour, except for that online buddy maker and those "Nirvana here I come" lines from addicted users.
So I decided to try it out, from Twitter jumped to Plurk. The starting days of my account was dormant, updating once in a while, and just posting for some extraordinary activities you got their. That's it.Weeks later, as my karma points grew, I was in awe not to plurk for even just a day. Was I desperate or plainly addicted to this service? I tried uploading my photo for my profile, customized the theme and hang-out with other users.

Then, that's it.The once uknown to me had become a part of my daily routine, spending almost half of the day interacting the the "plurkville", as what they call it. Of course, you have to update your profile, from its font down to what you needed most, the overall theme. So here I just want to share you my 1 month plurk page. Fresh from the top and using my logo, I decided to make it as a background.

The logo I made just only for MY PLURK PAGE, is a proof how much I have been addicted in the past 1 month. At least, I wouldn't die for it though.

The original cut of my graphic design.
An actual screenshot of my page. Still at low karma.

So there they go, off to Plurkville andpost your daily activities. But, don't forget some things should be prioritized first before setting of to our plurk homeland. :)

This is only a quick-post, I have to do many things, this include studying, and reviewing for a quiz the next day. Plurk, too.

I've already finished one personal signature for this blog. There are tons of load to work for. This time I only got the chance to produce one output. Using various photoshop effects and combination of those complicated crap.

Here's the output:

It's been a while since I started my hobby, "Photoshopping", and I can't imagine how did I make it through, where in fact I didn't want to do such things. Later on, during the SOCCSKSARGEN IT CHALLENGE, I was a contestant on Audio-Visual Presentation. It's more on animating. The interesting part on my Photoshop experience is that, the exploration turned out to be a hobby. The innovation started. No, not really. The ideas started to pop out from my head, and I started searching for tutorials which could help me improve.
Expect more of these as my experience grows.

November Rain, this song keeps playing in my mind, Guns n' Roses, who would ever forgot this famous band who once rule the field of rock music. Anyway, the post was entitled "November Rain" not for the reason of a love story just like the GnR's lyrics of November Rain, but for my reason, which is November's first rainfall, which exactly happened on All Saint's Day. Well that's not wierd.

November 1 - Everybody is busy, other's brought flowers, and others for food. Everybody will be celebrating their Halloween season. Visiting to their departed loved ones.

Leaving Gensan for the All-Souls Day

I woke up with those teary eyes, overnight-bulging eyes. I was blogging the previous night. As usual, I wash the car to complete my weekend routines. Later that day, we prepared for the 30-minute travel to my grandma's home. It was so nice knowing that i'll be visiting again the childhood memories I left in that cozy place.

Along the way, Silhouttes and the lonely sunset

While travelling, raindrops started to fall, not the usual, heavy, disturbing rain we used to experience, but the silent yet sensitive raindrops, as if it was singing along with the all-saints day. Everybody on the streets are walking towards the cemetery, yet finds comfort with their companions in walking. While it was still a view for the sun setting over the horizon, I got the chance to capture its brightly colored sunrays.

Arriving at the memorial garden, I notice that there are only few people visiting compare to last year's population. My grandfather's been dead for 8 years, and I still can recall the memories he shared with us. We lit candles and later on, we left with a presence and ended the night bidding goodbyes for the night.
